Another area in which we are striving for significant CO2 reductions is in the use phase of our models: for every driven kilometre, we want to reduce average emissions by 50%. How? By making electrification our top priority.

7 MILLION ELECTRIFIED BMW AND MINI MODELS ON THE ROADS BY 2030

By 2030, at least 50% of BMW Group's global sales will be fully electric. And we want to put more than 10 million electric vehicles on the road.

A wide choice of all-electric models, that's our next step. We'll have five all-electric models in the range by the end of this year. By 2023, this number will be 13.

13 FULLY ELECTRIC MODELS IN 2023

At the IAA 2021, BMW presented a prototype of the BMW iX5 Hydrogen. With the right infrastructure, hydrogen can be a very green solution. For BMW, an electric car based on a hydrogen drive is certainly an option for the future.

*In the Netherlands: Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, The Hague, Eindhoven, Den Bosch and Tilburg.

Buying a plug-in hybrid is another very responsible choice. Innovative technologies ensure that emissions are kept to a minimum. By extending the range of the electric motor and equipping city centres with eDrive zones*, where BMW plug-in hybrids automatically switch to electric drive mode. This way we contribute to keeping the air in our cities clean.

Thanks to Efficient Dynamics, our combustion engines are among the cleanest and most economical, while also delivering optimum power. As a result, the CO2 emissions of our 2020 fleet are now well below the EU targets.
