SUSTAINABILITY AT BMW GROUP NETHERLANDS
BMW & MINI IN THE NETHERLANDS
BMW Group Netherlands contributes to the BMW Group's mission of being the world's most sustainable car manufacturer. Even though the choices made by a sales organisation have proportionally less impact than those of a production site, BMW Group Netherlands still has an impact in various ways.
Today, 20% of all BMW and MINI models sold in the Netherlands are electrified. By 2023, this figure will increase to at least 50%. The share of BEVs is growing at a faster rate than the share of PHEVs.
Our internal targets for BMW and MINI sales
In 2018, the BMW Group set up a pilot project in Rotterdam together with the city to investigate ways of encouraging owners of BMW Plug-in Hybrid models to drive electrically within the city centre. 93% of the test group's trips were electric. And it turns out that gamification is a strong incentive. The BMW Group is now setting up eDrive Zones all over Europe.
DUTCH INITIATIVE FOR EUROPEAN EDRIVE ZONES
We save many tonnes of CO2 each year by generating our own energy with the solar panels on the roofs of our company buildings. Our head office has been made greener with energy saving features such as LED lighting, insulated hot water pipes, heat recovery from the high-efficiency boilers and air-conditioning systems and by reducing the use of plastic.
A customer who is considering the purchase of an electric or plug-in hybrid BMW, is rewarded with an attractive interest rate: the lower the emissions, the lower the interest rate. In this way, BMW actively promotes the choice for plug-in hybrid or electric models.

BMW GROUP NETHERLANDS INSPIRES SOCIETY
Every year, employees of BMW Group Netherlands and BMW Financial Services clean up the beach at Scheveningen, in The Hague.
BMW Netherlands supports Boyan Slat in his project to rid the Pacific Ocean and rivers of plastic by supplying their executive team with three fully electric BMW i3 models.
We also provide financial support with our special edition of the BMW i3: for every car sold, we donate a sum to The Ocean Cleanup.
