Over the next 10 years, we will be emitting 80% less CO2 in our production. All BMW models will be assembled carbon neutrally from 2021 onwards. That's because, from then on, all electricity purchased for all 31 manufacturing plants of the BMW Group worldwide will come from renewable energy sources. This has already been the case for all European plants since 2017.

The remaining CO2 emissions from worldwide production will be offset by appropriate, high-quality certificates, which will be phased out in stages. The ultimate goal:

We are also investing heavily in energy efficiency, whereby digitalisation plays a major role. For example utilising predictive maintenance of robots and data analyses for a more efficient production process.
